It seems we have very complicated lives these days. I just started working again this week. I'm now a delivery driver for
CarQuest Auto Parts.

Its a long way from being a helicopter mechanic but I am grateful to have any type of employment these days. All winter long I sent out applications and resumes to any and every company I could find. Most I never heard back from. A few, I received the courtesy mail stating my application was received. If I attached my resume to an application I was deemed 'overqualified' for any position. If I didn't attach my resume, I was rejected for not having a resume. I've been in a Catch 22 for a long time now.

The managers at this parts store had no reason to call me in to talk. They saw the same thing all the other companies saw. They took a chance on me. I was honest and explained to them why I couldn't get work. Age and a specialized skill set in a bad economy are not a good combination. It was a good talk but I didn't expect to hear back from them.

They did call and I'm employed again. Its part time for now and not much money involved but this gets my foot into the working world again. Finally. This is a job that I would have and did snub my nose at in my previous life. It was beneath me. No more. I am extremely grateful that CarQuest took a chance on me.

I'm learning a bit of everything about the store. From receiving
and stocking, to the computer system and helping customers, to delivering to key accounts, I'll be doing it all. My best position will be out in the van making delivery runs. As customers get used to seeing me around, hopefully more work will come from this. Its a start again!

Moving on to other topics, the doll house is complete! I'll be taking it outside today for pictures and a video. This is something we are proud of! The full story will come to you either later today or tomorrow. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do! Until then, I wanted to check in and say hi to everyone and thank you for viewing my blog and life!
