My
how things change in an instant. Kitty was browsing around Facebook
this morning. The sale pages are a good source for repurposing. You
never know who's going to be selling what. She struck the motherload
today.
This
is a four piece hand made parlor furniture set from the mid-1800's.
A couch, two chairs, and a coffee table. Two end tables are still to
come.
They
need work. This will be a full and complete restoration. This
furniture project will be the biggest project I have taken on.
Someone did a bad refinish job decades ago. I'm the one to change
that. There are no major breaks but a lot of joints that have come
loose over the years. I'm the one to clean, glue and clamp to bring
this back to it's original glory. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity!
That
is real marble you see in the backs. That all has to come out for
cleaning and storage while the wood is being worked with.
In
the mean time, Kitty and I are once again processing food. There was
a time I wouldn't have talked about this but we get food boxes from
our local food pantry. The only way to make much of this food work
for us is to preserve it. Most would throw a lot of it away. Not
us. When times get hard during deep winter, we will not starve! Speaking of winter, the snow is here to stay. It is now white until May!
This
winter will be another challenge. A challenge that I am meeting head
long. We will make it once again and we have a very nice antique
furniture set that will replace some very nice furniture that burned
in California's wine country. This should be fun!
