Well,
here I sit...another day at the bizarre! It has been slow. There
seems to be less traffic than last week. I have sold a couple items.
Mushers Dream, Kitties globe lamp has found a new home thanks to
Facebook advertising.
Even
though the sales are not there, I received some nice compliments on
our creations. I also did much better at talking to and not at
people when they approached my table. It has been slow for everyone
here. I will stay to the bitter end as I watch vendor after vendor
pack up their wares and head out early.
Next
weekend I am going to find a better spot to set up. I will keep
doing this. I am determined not to fail. Failure still is not an
option.
Getting
this whole concept of recycle, repurpose, reuse functional art to
take hold is an astronomical challenge. My wife and I don't do what
others would consider fine art. We take what God has given us and do
what we can with it to try and make a beautiful out of an ugly. I
think that my table with our creations on it is beautiful. Plus, we
have (at least for a little while) kept a few things that will never
deteriorate out of the landfills and our earth.
We
are trying to keep a small footprint in an excessively consuming
throw away society. I see the importance in this now. I have gone
through the dumps and seen all of the brand new or barely used things
that people just seem to get tired of now. I have learned to take a
shower without using 10 gallons of water every day, which is a finite resource by the way.
I
now know what the phrase 'Waste Not Want Not' means. I've got a long
ways to go but I am trying to live that life now, along with my wife
who is one of the very few people I know that practices what she
preaches.
Oops,
gotta go. Getting an late afternoon rush!
