The
Alaskan winter is here. It's still early but we have a dusting of
snow. Temperatures are dropping and daylight is leaving us. We
finished our move and have finally gotten settled in. Work is done
for the year other than a couple of very short stints still to come.
So,
with all that being said, what's next? Art. Arctic Artique is
getting back on track. Kitty and I are making stuff again and
getting ready to make it through another winter. A few new things
are happening this year. We have our eBay business up and going. If
you are interested in unique and sometimes unusual things, you should
check us out at Shangri-lah-di-da. You never know, we may have
something you can't live without.
We
are also Shangri lah di da on Facebook. Check us out and give us a
like! Our Arctic Artique page is still up and running and will help
to tie all of our pages together. Saturday also will be the first
time we are going public with our cool stuff. I'm going to be
setting u a table at a holiday bazaar. Kitty still isn't feeling up
to the strain of doing this, so I am going to jump in with both feet.
Now, for any of my fellow autistics out there, imagine a creative,
socially inept, scared of my own shadow aspie that has never done
something like this before. This is going to be an interesting day.
We
have all kinds of things to show the public. First off, Kitty
recently made up a rather large batch of recycle, repurpose, reuse
candles for sale. They look cool, they burn well, and they won't
break the bank. I'll be selling herb packets, dehydrated orange and
lemon peels, tea packets and more. We plan on showing Arctic Artique
unique art pieces.
Speaking
of art, check out what Kitty put together. Is is a sundial? Is it a
bird bath? Is it art? Yes to all three of those questions. An old
brass sundial she found at a thrift store rests atop an ugly old 60's
lamp base. Wait, did I say ugly? This is so cool, the way she
layered her paints to make an old brown and tan lamp look as if it
came off a showroom floor as part of this beautiful floor piece.
I
just finished refurbing an old 1800's shaving box that had seen
better days. I left the old original mirror but changed an old
outdated picture with an original photograph I took a year ago. This
will be my first attempt at selling my photography. I use this word
too much but it's a cool little piece.
We
are both working on wire spool foot stools. Mine is just about
finished other than some trim and it looks really nice with a bit of
a southwest cowboy flare. I'll show you the stools when we are both
finished. Gotta keep you in suspense!
This
is going to be a fun winter. It'll be tough but we will make it! I
plan on updating again Saturday from the bazaar, so be sure to stick
around and check it out.
