A Rare Day Off…In Burns Of All Places

Well, I’ve been stateside for almost one month now.  It looks like we are going to be hanging out in Burns for a while. I was fortunate enough to be able to go out in the high desert today.  WOW!  Today was an awesome adventure.
I have met some nice people here, and I will be the first to say that this town is divided over the refuge happenings.  This post isn’t about that though.  I want to concentrate on what I got to see today.  I had my camera in hand, and saw some breathtaking land.
From the scenic Buena Vista Overlook to the Diamond Craters, I was amazed at the terrain that I saw.  Today, I was a tourist pretending to be a helicopter mechanic.  I got lost for a while.  It is easy to get turned around in these great expanses.  At the bottom of a hill, I went right just after a gentleman told me not to take the first right.  I ended up going halfway up a hill overlooking one of the craters.  I thought I was going to roll the car over and over down the side of a cliff overlooking this monstrous hole in the earth.  The view I was rewarded with was spectacular.  Those must have been some big asteroids that hit millions of years ago, I would presume.

Enough talk for now.  I hope you enjoy these pictures.  I thoroughly loved taking them for you!
