Spring
Has Sprung
It
has finally happened. The long (although
mild this year) Alaska winter is over.
The trees are green, the roads are clear, and the birds are
chirping. What better way to bring in
the season than with another recycle, repurpose, reuse project.
Kitty
has wanted a gazebo for several years now.
We never were able to build one in the past but it finally happened. Someone tossed their store bought gazebo that
had fallen apart over its couple of year lifespan. More junk into the landfill. If you look closely at the top of this one of
kind piece of yard art you will notice it is an old 1930’s or 40’s bed spring,
the precursor to our current box springs and foundations for bedding. This is all metal, served its purpose for
decades, then was finally tossed to melt into the earth over the next 100 years
or so.
This
is also the first time I’ve tried to take pictures with a smart phone. They’re okay but I think I will stick with my
Nikon from here on out. Remember that
everything you see here is trash. It all
came from the dump. You don’t have to
spend bunches of money to make your space unique and stylish. Besides, everybody and their brothers are buying
the same things you are so there is nothing unique about it. Spend a little time with your creative side
and see what you can come up with. Just
wait until later in the season when this cool little zen spot starts taking on its
own personality with flowers, herbs, vegi’s, and more!
