On 21 April 2016, we
lost an icon of the music world. Prince Rogers Nelson passed at the
age of 57 at his home in Paisley Park, Minnesota. I will be honest
to say that I didn't know much about the man other than his early
work. Everything that I relay here has been learned from numerous
reports after the fact.
Prince was a musical
genius with a fanatical work ethic. This man was intent on improving
himself and his craft to the end. I found it fantastic that one of
his requirements to himself was to write two songs per day, everyday,
no matter how good or bad they were. That is no small
accomplishment. All of the instruments he recorded with he played
himself. There are multitudes of guitar players, drummers,
keyboardists, singers, and more but very few can play multiple
instruments. Playing every instrument to the quality of recording
with them is something unheard of, especially in todays digital music
world where the buck reigns almighty. Band members can now barely
play their chosen instrument, much less every instrument in sight.
Kitty has followed
this man since his early days. He was just a couple of years older
than us, so we more or less grew up together. Another project was on
tap for this memorial when we heard the news. Immediately, she
changed course and the scope of this project in midstream. As with
all of Kitty Wolf's work, this is another unique and one of a kind
piece, created to honor the life of the man we all know as simply,
Prince.
An old metal walking
cane with a broken and dingy old piece of wall decoration have been
melded together to transform into the beautiful silk flower display
you now see. Beautiful to gaze on with a deep respectful meaning,
this was another labor of love. With that being said Arctic Artique
is once again honored to present to you,
Mourning
After The Rain
