Echo's of Reflections Past

Welcome back to Arctic Artique. It has been a couple days since my last update. Kitty Wolf and I have been busy, busy, busy! Life has been nonstop for us now that the sun is coming back to life. Temperatures are up and snow is melting. In another two weeks we will be starting to green for the summer.

While in the middle of our marathon get the projects done time, Kitty had another vision. The stars and planets realigned for her again. All other work stopped while we talked it out and she explained what she had in mind. I didn't get it yet but she would talk me through it as we went. We had everything she needed. Beads, an old hammock, a mirror that had been laying around a while, and this old composition crown tiara shelf thing that always seemed to show up just when I thought it was gone.

Built on a platform of rough cut Alaska Spruce, this is the end result of that talk three days ago. New, yet hauntingly old. This appears as if it could have come out of the 1700's. The mirror is surrounded by an elaborate design made from hammock rope, Mardi Gras beads, cast off crystals, and more. A very unique technique was used to transform the multi-colored rope art design into the fading and tarnished, centuries old vision you see.

At first glance, this piece is simple. Walk by and notice a couple of danglies. See the danglies then you notice something else. And something else. Layer after layer, the more you look, the more intricate the piece becomes.

When she asked me what my impression was, the thought that kept coming to me, and still does, was Italian Wedding Cake. Tier Mass something...don't ask me to spell that one. This feels to me like it could have come from old world Rome. It just has that feel.

Of course, a mirror is never complete unless you can hang your coat and hat nearby. As part of this set, two bronze coat hangers received matching unique designs of their own. Stylish, functional and unique not only describes 'Echo's of Reflection's Past, it also describes us...Kitty and myself, as both husband and wife and Arctic Artique.
