Autism
is a funny thing. No two diagnoses are alike. Some are high
functioning. Some are low functioning. Some like people. Some
don't. Many are OCD, ADD, ADHD, and on and on. Many others are not.
Some have tics associated with theirs. Others do not. Some are
verbal. Some don't talk. Some cannot write while others do. Many
carry on normal lives and fit into society. Many do not live normal
lives and fit into society. Some are clingy. Others are not. Some
have tunnel vision with their focus while others think all over the
place. Some are savants with certain extreme talents while others
think they have no talent. Some take care of others while others
need to be taken care of. Some are musically inclined while others
can't carry a tune or beat. Some are neat, clean and highly
structured while others have order in their chaos. I could go on and
on and on and on and on.
Where
do you fit in? What does autism mean to you? What do you like least
about it? What about your autism do you like and sets you apart from
others? Tell me about it. Tell me about you.
My
least favorite part about my autism is that I tend to push people
away from me. Not because I want to but because I try to hard. My
favorite part about my autism is the fact that when I learn how to do
something, I do it well. My autistic brain will not let me do
something wrong or take short cuts when I know it has to be done
right.
Remember,
when someone tells you that you are not normal because of your autism, tell them that my autism is what makes me normal for me!
Tell
me about you!
