Summer is Over
Well...that's
it. Scott's great adventure is over. Wildfire season in Alaska and
the lower 48 is done for the year. On Tuesday the National
Preparedness Level dropped from a Level Four to Level Two. Our
helicopter was released from service yesterday and returned to it's
home base in New Mexico. I just happened to be home in Alaska on my
break when the expected news hit.
It
was a good season. Kitty and I made it through together. She's
still weak but is feeling better. I got to see a part of the
helicopter industry that I had not been subjected to before. Fire
Service and Government Contracting. It was an experience.
I
got to see some really cool places this summer. After 'suffering'
through the heat of the lower 48 and making the change, I had fun.
Remember, as an autistic I can tend to get negative when things
change and don't happen quite the way I expect them too. I adapted
and made it though!
I
earned the trust of a new employer, just by being me and doing the
type of work I have always done. You know, just being yourself can
work! Kitty and I have gotten a bit more stable this season and are
looking forward to making it through another Alaska winter.
If
you remember last winter, we made things. Art. This was a
completely different experience for me and I finally had to learn to
trust my wife and follow her lead. This blog and Arctic Artique were
born out of my extreme learning experience. During the past summer,
we laid low on our art plans as we had summer to make it through and
figure out which direction we were going next.
I'm
pleased to announce the coming collaboration of
Arctic Artique and Shangri-Lah-Di-Da
our
Ebay store we have been nurturing and learning over the past couple
of winters. Kitty has been collecting all summer long and has a
beautiful selection of Good Karma artifacts, collectable,s
historical, and unique, one of a kind treasures to show you. We
learned how to work together and more important, we learned how to
survive and thrive together.
I'm
not going to bore you more with news of the past, but I do invite you
to share our future. Watch here as we create and display the works
of Arctic Artique. Until my next post, enjoy some of my favorite
pictures from this summer.
