Hello
Alaska, I'm Home! It was great to meet my new employer and get to
know my new helicopter. Friday was one long day. At the airport in
Clovis, New Mexico at 0600 for a two hour flight to Dallas on a small
commuter plane. I got to DFW just in time for a five hour wait
before Alaska Airlines carried me away to Seattle. After almost four
hours sitting in their pressurized metal cylinder, it was another
four hour wait before my final leg home. My back hurt and my legs
hurt but I made it! Now it's time for the fun to begin.
I'll
be heading to Anchorage in a few days for some final work on my
machine, N32AT. I am ready to get this summer started.
Now,
toward the tail end of my helicopter career I am finally going to
work for the mom and pop company I always hunted for. I like this
company. I like their business model. I like the group of guys I'm
working with. This is going to be a good working relationship.
Galena, here I come!
I've
already posted a couple pictures of my helicopter after it was
completed. This is what I walked into when I showed up. The machine
was in a few pieces, not too bad, mainly cowlings and interior trim.
Being torn down like this gave me a good chance to look this beauty
over from top to bottom and nose to tail. I liked what I saw. With
only 2600 hours of total time, the new helicopter smell is still
evident in this awesome Bell 407.
Before
I start rambling and writing too much, I'm going to stop this post
and save some for later. There will be lot's to relay over the next
several months. I will say that this machine is responsible for the
change and evolution of one of our current projects. If you remember
a very short description of 'Envy', forget about it. This project
just received an entirely new life in a different direction and will
be completed over the summer as I take my breaks from camp and come
home for R and R. Kitty and I talked it over, we both love how this
unique hall tree is going to transform, and we are ready to make it
so. Take a good look as this is the only time you will see the direction it was going before it took on it's new life! Watch, read, and enjoy as we run head long into the busy and
crazy Alaska summer!
What's
with the beat up old box you ask? A very special small project I am
repairing so Kitty can transform it!
