It
looks like things are changing for me once again! While putting in
another rousing half day for my current employer, my wife took a call
for me from a company way down in New Mexico. I am now back in
helicopters again. I will once again be working with a remotely
stationed Bell 407 helicopter which just so happens to be one of my
favorite machines. I will be handling all maintenance duties while
my pilot will be a young lady that I have worked with in the past.
This
should be an interesting summer and a good one! For those of you not
familiar to me, I have had a 30 year career in helicopter maintenance
beginning with the US Navy all the way back to the 1980's. A series
of events over the last couple of years (some from outside sources
and some of my own making) kept me out of my profession the last
couple of years. It has been a rough ride but I have learned so much
about myself and others due to the hardships. It is now time to claw
my way back up and to be able to take care of my wife the way she
deserves to be taken care of.
For
those of you not familiar with the Bell 407 helicopter, here are a
few fun facts. First, this machine is more or less an updated
version of the Bell 206 series Long Ranger which boasts the best
safety record of all aircraft currently flying. It is simply a good
machine. The Bell 407 is a four bladed helicopter that can carry six
passengers plus the pilot. It is powered by a Rolls Royce C47 engine
which is FADEC controlled. Fadec is short for Fully Automatic
Digital Engine Control. Long story short, the engine for this
machine has a brain!
After
all of my pre employment requirements that will now begin, I will be
taking a trip (with camera in hand) from Alaska to New Mexico for
orientation, training, and to ensure my machine is ready to go for
the summer. I am ready and looking forward to this new adventure.
Just
as my life is always changing, so does my blog. My blog as well as
life are meant to be fluid. Stay tuned. Things are going to start
heating up again! Thank you Ted, for seeing that I still have what
it takes to get the job done! Please note that the picture for this
posting is not of my current company machine, rather an older picture
that I had in one of my files. Much more to come!!!!!!!
