Erickson Aircrane came to town while I was out. This monster helicopter that looks like a dragonfly is a

Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane.

It is a beast as you can see. When nobody else can lift the weight, these are the guys you call. The local wireless company is upgrading remote towers in this area. This is what it takes to do the work. We may get 4 or 3G!

Seeing this brings back memories. Back in the 90’s when I worked in construction airlift, I worked alongside one of these guys for a day. It was at a new auto manufacturing plant in Tennessee or Kentucky…somewhere down there. The Skycrane carried these huge 20.000-pound penthouses on various roofs of the plant. As soon as they released their load and cleared the area our Sikorsky S-58 round motor helicopter would set a small ventilation hood on top of the penthouse. We did that all-day long. It was fun watching the big spindly legged dragonfly nose it over and pick up speed.
