The time is 8:57 pm.  The sun is off to my right.  That little white ball you see in the picture is the moon.  For those that didn’t know, in Alaska we have two seasons. Light and Dark.  Summer time we get 24 hour sunlight at this high latitude.  During the winter we get 24 hour dark for a time.  In Fairbanks we still get about an hour or two of twilight but if you go farther north to Deadhorse or Barrow, there is about a six week time span when it is completely night time.  Seeing the moonlike this during the day is just something you don’t see in the lower latitudes, as in the lower 48.
Getting used to 24 hour sunlight takes a while to get used to.  It took me about three years before I could sleep at night with the sun out.  Many people up here have lots of sleeping issues being used to night being dark where they come from.  Honestly, I don’t even notice it anymore.
This is just a fun tidbit I hope someone will enjoy.  See you again soon.  By the way, a friend is giving Kitty and I an amazing recycle, repurpose, reuse project that I am hopefully going to be able to pick up next week during my break.  I’ve seen a couple pictures of this large older item and I can’t wait to get more pictures and show you the before shots!
