Anyway, although I would much rather be home taking care of business I am enjoying my time here. This is a very laid back company with a family atmosphere. In fact, my new boss told me that I am now part of the family. The Aerotech family, that is. The company I work for now is Aerotech, LLC basef in Clovis, New Mexico. They are in to many different specialties with not only helicopters but fixed wing aircraft as well. I will be firefighting in Alaska with a Bell 407 helicopter. This happens to be one of my favorite machines. In addition to firefighting this company does agricultural spraying with 'Air Tractors'. There are Bell 212 helicopters, an MD 500 helicopter for wildlife counting, a couple of Beehcraft Bonanza's, and even a Cessna Citation business jet. I have been thoroughly impressed with what I have found in the southwest United States.
Another cool thing, I didn't even have to ask but a company shirt was given to not only myself but my wife Kitty. I will show pics of them soon (I hope)! These aren't any old shirt but the nicest and most elaborate company shirts I have ever received in my 30 years in this industry. I believe I am going to be happy with this company!
You know, when things happen, they happen all at once. Besides coming to New Mexico, we are still fundraising to send Eternal Patriot to Mrs. Finicum. We have made it over half way to our goal. If you would like to take a look, stop by Arctic Artique on Facebook. When I tried to call my lovely better half after work today, all I could get was ringing, ringing, and more ringing...no answer. It turns out that our phone line has gone dead for some reason today. Let me tell you, it ain't fun trying to troubleshoot a problem like this from 4000 miles away. Hopefully, we will get this square away soon and be back to business as usual. One thing about Kitty and I though, the only usual for us is unusual! We haven't had a dull moment since we met nine years ago.
As I said a few posts back, my blog is now in the midst of a transition of topics. It's not only about art and recycle, repurpose, reuse...it's about life. Stick around, I'm reloading for a crazy summer. Watch as I head to the bush of Alaska. We are a different breed up here so hopefully we can all learn something. If nothing else, it should be entertaining!
