Today I Made A Cake

As the title says, today I made a cake. It was a grand cake. It was a mans cake. It was goooooood!

Just a cup of water, three eggs, and cake mix. Put in big bowl together and mix. Mix and mix and mix the batter. The fun part about this was getting out our old electric mixer and not making a complete mess of it. Next after mixing came the baking. 350* in the oven. Pour the thoroughly mixed batter in the large greased pan. I didn't forget to rub just a bit of butter on the pan. Why you ask. So I didn't burn the bottom of my cake. Yadda, yadda. Pour the batter in the pan, put the pan in the oven and wait. 30 minutes.

While I was waiting, I needed something to put on my cake. Frosting. Where was that little can of store bought frosting? It was gone. I probably ate it last week. What in the world was I going to do. I feverishly looked through the cabinets only to find...wait for it...wait for it...powdered sugar. The light bulb in my head lit with a bright idea. Poor a bunch of powdered sugar in a big green plastic bowl was the next thing I did. Looking a little further was my better half's can of organic cocoa powder. Yummy! I dumped a little bit of chocolate powder looking stuff on the sugary white powder stuff and stirred. Kinda fun but not frosting. Over next to the oven, I spied the butter dish. I like butter! I broke up about 1/3rd cup of butter and dropped the pieces into my sugary, chocolaty, powdery mess. More stir, stir, stir and still powdery. Next? Just a dab of hot water. Why hot and not cold water? I dunno. That's just how I was told to do it. A little water, a little olive oil and stir, stir, stir. The ingredients were mixing together. The powder was getting darker. The texture was getting creamier. The taste was good. Something was still missing though. I looked on the shelf. I checked in the pantry (I again looked on the shelf), finally in the fridge I saw it. There it was, sitting right in the door. I grabbed it, opened the lid to see inside and smiled! Almost a quarter jar of store brand Hot Fudge. A quick scraping and dumping into my concoction. More stir, stir, stir and finally...the taste test. WOW!
That was the missing ingredient. Perfect timing, 30 minutes was up. I pulled my cake out of the oven and checked for doneness with a toothpick. After a brief cooling period, I spread my chocolate fudge frosting on my white moist cake. I know...sounds kind of kinky! And the rest as you can see is history! Damn that cake was good.
