Death of a Butterfly

An Original Creation
from
Mr. and Mrs. Scott and Katlynn Thompson

Recycle, Repurpose, Reuse

Did you know there are statistics that show the Monarch butterfly to be extinct in just a couple of very short years. The loss of their migratory fly way due to progress is said to play a very large role in this loss. This beautiful vintage trunk, which was saved from eternity in a landfill, was removed from a dumpster in Fairbanks, Alaska. It had seen life for 70 years before being discarded, only to receive it's butterfly-like metamorphosis. Mrs. Thompson's unique style and vision dictated that this old trunk become a tribute to the soon to be gone Monarch in the only way she could. With beauty and elegance. To look at this one of a kind work of art is to step back in time, a time not so long ago when elegance reigned supreme. The vibrant colors of the butterflies, mixed with the ornate shelf add a look not seen in 100 years. Please, take that step back in time for just a minute, and think about what life will be like without seeing this butterfly again.
